This year in conjunction with Teagasc, Sheep Ireland will be holding breeding evening workshops throughout Ireland. This is the first time that these events will specifically cater for commercial farmers and pedigree breeders together. To do this the attendees will be split (Pedigree Breeders / Commercial farmers) for a period of time to enable target information to be given to each group. Topics covered each evening will include:
- The Sheep Ireland genetic evaluations (€urostars)
- The benefits that can be achieved using evaluations
- Marketing: How to use evaluations to promote your business
- The importance of having a strategic breeding policy
- Maximising the use of EID
- Flock Health, Ewe and Ram NCT, Bio-Security
Each event will begin at 7:00pm with light refreshments available after the event.
This is a great opportunity for commercial farmers and breeders to gain some valuable breeding practice information to increase genetic gain on Irish sheep farms. Sheep Ireland encourages everyone to go to one of the 7 available dates. Workshops are based all over the country to ensure that farmers and breeders get prime opportunities to attend.
Important note: All events are Department of Agriculture approved Knowledge Transfer events.
