Do I need to submit to the Department any proof to show that I have purchased the required SIS ram?
No proof need to be submitted.
There is no requirement to send any documentation to the Department.
If a flock is inspected then you must be in a position to show that you purchased an eligible ram.
The dispatch document is the proof that you purchased the ram at a determined date.
To prove that the ram was eligible at the date of purchase, a sales catalogue for the date of the animal purchased is one option as information in the catalogue is extracted from the Sheep Ireland database. Breeders can also provide the buyers the sales card of each ram, where the SIS certification will be displayed.
Any buyer can check himself the information from the Ramsearch facility; www.ramsearch.ie.
Buyers can do a screenshot and keep it in case of inspection, but it won’t be necessary, as the DAFM will be checking the SIS eligibility online through Ramsearch.
How to check if your purchased ram was eligible at a determined date?
Go to Ramsearch and search using the ID or animal name.
Just select the date of purchase and the system will display Yes if it was SIS eligible.
