LambPlus is the performance recording service provided by Sheep Ireland to all pedigree and commercial sheep farmers in Ireland.

Existing LambPlus breeders can now renew their LambPlus membership for 2024. Go to www.sheep.ie and log into your current account. You will find a “Join LambPlus for 2024” yellow banner. Complete the required criteria, ensure to agree to the Terms & Conditions, and then click “save” to proceed.

If you are a member of the breed societies of which Sheep Ireland hosts their flockbooks (see below list ‘Pedigree Breeds we host’), you can also sign up through your account by using the online application in the same way.

Remember that if you are a pedigree breeder of the breed societies that we host and plan to join LambPlus, you must have a membership with the society first, and they will set your account as a member of the relevant breed on the Sheep Ireland database.

For new members, who are commercial or hill farmers/breeders, and for breeders of the societies we don’t host, and want to do performance recording of the flock using LambPlus, you can fill in a signup form request at www.sheep.ie.

The option of joining LambPlus is open to pedigree (€50 to €100) and commercial or hill farmers/breeders (Free).

Important: For Hill breeders wanting to genotype and sell SIS eligible rams, you DON’T need to join LambPlus. We can set a commercial account for the genotyping, with no need to join our performance recording programme.

Signups opened on the 1st of November and will close on the 1st of December.

Sheep Ireland aims to improve farm profitability by promoting the use of better sheep genetics. Thanks to work from many industry stakeholders, Ireland’s genetic trends for both the Terminal and Replacement index’s are heading in a positive direction.

As part of LambPlus, farmers are expected to record a variety of key events such as; mating, pregnancy scanning, lambing information and weights.

Genetic evaluations are generated once key performance information is entered and €urostar Index’s are then produced for all animals involved in the programme.

LambPlus stats 2023:

The number of ram breeding flocks joining the LambPlus performance recording programme has grown every year since the beginning of Sheep Ireland. Almost 1,350 flocks signed up to performance record their animals in 2023, and we are expecting to rise again in 2024.
