Dr Donagh Berry gave a presentation in session 1 of day 1 at the ICBF & Sheep Ireland Genetics Conference which took place on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th December 2018 in the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone. Donagh spoke about the importance of parentage assignment, the theoretical and practical explanation of actually assigning parents to offspring along with the importance of validating or verifying assignments using genotype samples. He also stated that parentage errors do occur and parentage error is worse than no parentage recorded at all.
