Sheep Ireland’s Geneticist Theirry Pabiou gave a presentation at the highly successful ICBF & Sheep Ireland Genetics Conference (ISGC) which took place before Christmas on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th December 2018 in the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone. Theirry talked about some of the updates and improvements made to genetic evaluations in 2018. Why might the genetic evaluations need to be updated? Because every year Sheep Ireland receive more and more data which along with newer technologies and research makes the evaluations more accurate. To gain accuracy the genetic parameters that make-up evaluations need to be updated frequently.
