The ICBF & Sheep Ireland Genetics Conference took place on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th December in the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone. The first day of the conference consisted of the Sheep Session (and dairy session which ran parallel to the sheep session) followed by a conference dinner and awards ceremony. Sheep Ireland were presenting two awards on the night, one of the awards being the Highest Achieving LambPlus flock 2018. The nominees for this ward were as follows; Patrick F Holland (Turlough Charollais (F71)), Mark & Audrey Crowe (Killeen Vendeen’s (CMK)) and Laurence Barrett (Kilmeany Belclare (LB)).
The winner of the Highest Acheiving LambPlus flock 2018 was Laurence Barrett. Laurence can be seen in the picture above receiving his award from Michael Berkery, Chairman of FBD Trust whom sponsored the event. Laurence was given a cash prize of €1000. Laurence has been a active member of LambPlus since 2009 and boasts an impressive DQI of 94%, producing accurate influential data thorughout the years since he joined the LambPlus programme.
Runners up Patrick F Holland and Mark & Audrey Crowe received certificates along with €500 euro cash prize.
